Mark Stephenson

Mark Andrew Stephenson, 77, of St. Bernard, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, surrounded by loving family.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1947 to Andrew and Lazetta (Wenning) Stephenson and was raised in Mt. Healthy, Ohio. Mark joined the United States Army in 1967 and served proudly through 1969 in the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the Mid-Ohio Classic Scooters (MOCS) Club and the Crankin A's (Model "A" Restorers) Club.

Mark married his best friend and soulmate, Debbie (Bode) Stephenson, on September 26, 1998. They were Florida snowbirds, loved to travel (never driving the same way twice and always took the back roads), and enjoyed finding unique places to eat.

Mark will always be remembered for the funny sayings on his t-shirts, they were a great conversation starter everywhere he went. He always had a joke and something witty to say. He had more friends than he could count, and they nicknamed him "Problem". He carried that nickname well throughout the years. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and we will miss his contagious smile every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Mark's favorite role was that of a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandchildren, loved being their Papa, and never failed to share valuable knowledge with them at every chance. He was a great storyteller and often shared tricks to fixing anything, and everything with them.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Andrew and Lazetta (Wenning) Stephenson, his brother Michael Stephenson, and is survived by his wife Debbie (Bode) Stephenson, daughter Melissa (Chris) Hacker, son Jeff Freeman, grandson Braden McKinney, granddaughter Kiersten Hacker, grandson Parker Freeman, great-granddaughters Autumn and Callie, sister Susan Tanner, sister Kay (John) Henderson, and several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Donations to Queen City Hospice, Cincinnati VA Medical Center, or the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
